Difficult Stages - Stage 108

[Quick Update 5/23/14: Since May 22, many ranger's stats were buffed. There are many ways to clear Stage 108 now, but I would suggest that you invest in Sol as a team member. He is very strong these days, especially maxed out at level 80.

New Stage 108 Video - Easy Mode with just 4 rangers: Sol, Alice, Witch Cony, Warrior Jessica]

Stage 108 is the current end-stage of the release as of this writing on May 11, 2014. It's a very challenging stage if you don't have any special rangers. Then again even if you do, if the special rangers are not KSM or Dancer King Boss, you're going to have to try a few times before you get it.

The very frustrating thing about this stage is that depending on how and when you deploy your rangers, the stage will progress differently for you. The enemy formation varies somewhat inexplicably. I've had situations where in a single stage I have gotten 1.5 Evas, 2 Convini (the best possible formation). Another time I got three Evas, 2 Convini, unicycles and ice cream. Sometimes I get a normal formation of 2 Evas, 2 Convini but with unicycles and ice cream enemies sprinkled in the lineup. Also, depending on where your team is located at the time of Hurry Up, even the formation and types of enemies you receive in the death march of this stage is different. Sometimes you luck out and you only get a sparse lineup of Mabebe, Sena, Tylers, unicycles and ice cream. Sometimes you get your rear end handed to you on a plate by a densely packed stream of more Sena than you can ever defeat along with every other enemy in this zone. Therefore, I cannot really break down the stage into digestible parts. All depends on how you play.

There is hope, however. I found this one video made by a player who has my utmost respect. He not only nailed down the perfect timing for clearing this stage with an all common/free ranger team, he's also figured out how to methodically trigger the ideal enemy formation for 108 (1.5 Eva, 2 Convini, no ice cream/unicycles during regular stage, and the best possible Hurry Up scenario). This video is here, made by YouJJay. *Please* go watch his video if you need help with 108. I'm going to shamelessly take screenshots of his video and discuss them in this post. There are some things he does that I think are genius. Definitely worth pointing out to aid you in success.

The Team & Deployment Order

I'm going to assume that he has at least unlocked the Castle in the Sky treasure, though not sure if 100% or not. His team is probably fully leveled to max and the members are Clara, Alice, Witch Cony, Sol and Warrior Jessica. In his strategy, Warrior Jessica is highest priority for deployment, followed by Sol, Clara, then Alice and Witch Cony. I mentioned before about never being "supply blocked." The idea is, you may deploy anyone who is not on cooldown as long as doing so will not cause you to be unable to deploy Jessica when her cooldown is finished. Example: if you have 500 minerals when Sol's cooldown is almost done while Jessica's is 80% done, don't deploy Sol first. Wait for Jessica's to come off cooldown, deploy her, then deploy Sol when you get enough minerals. Never deploy someone else at the cost of wasting time not deploying Jessica.

Execution

I've tried his strategy several times and it's been foolproof so far. At the start, upgrade minerals to 7, then deploy Jessica. Upgrade minerals to 8, then wait until you can deploy another Jessica, followed by Sol, then Clara. Repeat Jessica, Sol, and Clara again before deploying Alice. Early on, you should only have enough minerals for those 4 anyway, so Witch Cony won't be even a thought until you have a few of those top 4 rangers.

If you time it that way, you will almost always end up in the spot that is identical to the video. Additionally -- and this is key! -- this will allow Convini to walk up *ahead* of Eva and start to hit Sol. This is very important because if he is not at the front of his group, Alice and Witch Cony won't be guaranteed to target him. If you follow this priority of deployment you will trigger Thomas when Convini's health is low and have enough fire power to defeat him before the pack of enemies backs you into your tower.

Once Eva and Tyler start to beat up on your tower, keep deploying your rangers to slow down the HP drain from Tyler. You are required to wait for the 2nd Convini to walk all the way to your tower because you are stalling for time. Time for what? (1) You're feeding your rangers slowly to death a bit here to trigger Thomas later. (2) You need to continue to damage Eva little by little in order to kill her before Hurry Up. (3) You must absolutely not be standing too close to the enemy tower when Hurry Up timer triggers because standing in various locations on the path triggers different formations. Also, standing too close can indirectly make Hurry Up more difficult for you (more on this later).  So, when the tower gets low, use Tower Repair to continue stalling. Use your Missiles as you get them. When Convini reaches your tower, Tornado them both back.

Here's the next critically important thing to note. You need to wait until Convini #2 passes the point where his text box is located before deploying your first Jessica. You need to do this because you want to end up about 1/3 of the way down the road and fight Convini and Eva there. I'll explain why soon.
As you fight Convini, Eva and Tyler here, your rangers are going to very naturally clump up into the great ball of death that you will need in order to slug your way through the Hurry Up part of this stage. If you continue to deploy in the priority mentioned, you should have no trouble getting all these remaining enemies very low. As soon as Hurry Up starts, drop the Meteor on them and Eva, Tyler and Convini will die. Now's also the time to deploy your Friend/Sidekick.

There are 3 reasons you are located here instead of further down the road. The natural instinct is to try to get as close to the enemy tower as possible after a tornado, right? You'll have less distance to have to fight through. But in this case, being far away from the tower gives you 3 advantages. (1) Your 3 heaviest hitting rangers (Sol, Clara, Alice) are very slow. The closer your army's meeting point is to your home tower, the faster and safer you can build up your ball of death army. (2) Convini walks faster than Eva. Giving him time to walk to you will allow you to focus your fire on him alone without taking extra damage from Eva. (3) When the stream of enemies from Hurry Up pop out of the tower, they will be tightly clumped, like their own ball of death. You do not want to be on the receiving end of all of that fire power. Since the enemies all walk at various speeds, the longer they walk, the more spread out they become. By the time you meet them, Sena has fallen behind and you can pick off the lone unicycle very safely. Without danger of being ganged up on, your army will get larger and larger and be able to inch its way to the enemy.

Continue to deploy your rangers, of course, and they will slowly join your mighty ball of death as you push through the enemies. But be mindful that as soon as you reach the tower, one half-health Eva will pop out. Use Ice Shot here to freeze everything in place as you splash down the tower and also kill her. After they thaw, it's pretty much a win!

This method works every time. The timing and positioning are very precise and takes all the guesswork out of the formation of this stage. All kudos go to YouJJay. Go watch his videos, like and subscribe and all that good stuff.

    I mean with that 3 slow rangers. A cony and warrjess and still pass 108 was amazing

    I like all players like this. They only use so-so source yet still able to beat the stage

    Do you think witch cony can be replaced by lucifer cony 50 ?. Cost 220 vs 310

    I want to try various way to beat 108 while waitinf sorc cony and new area update

    And can we replaced clara with opera james ? Considering opera attack speed much faster than clara

    1. I know! It's totally amazing. I saw this one last night when I was trying to sleep and I was just totally blown away. Every move is so calculated.

      I think there is a little bit of danger to trying to load too much power into your team. One of the things that is key to this strategy is positioning and if you kill the 2nd Convini too fast, you will end up much closer to the enemy tower than you want to be when Hurry Up happens. Of course, Lucifer and Opera do more damage so maybe you can tip it in your favor with simply higher total DPS. Probably doable, but would have to try it myself to know for sure.

      And in any case, you won't be deploying much Cony anyway. I found myself slipping her into my rotation only when I had a lot of excess mineral and all others were on CD for a long time. The DPS gain between Witch and Lucifer would be quite small just because you don't get to deploy her much and she always dies when you face Convini.

      Castle treasure will surely help this stage

      Sometimes a player complain why they cant win with same composition team

      Maybe they must check their level, min rate and max prod rate or a treasure

      I found a lot of players level 50 or even below 50 stand at 108 just because they have ksm, dancer king boss and hiphop or sorc cony.

      Nah then they try to win with free rangers way and got burned hahah

      Anyway good analysis, panic, you are not only a great player but also an analyst and tactician. I agree wiyh you that Memorize our enemies are one of the best way to make a strategy plan.

    Every move was calculated. It takes nerve to not send out the low priority rangers for the specific stage of the battle. I just reached 107 And this post & video may well prove to be helpful when I reach 108. I love this game a little bit more after watching this clip. . . Just. Brilliant. . .

  6. Yeah, I hope I'm not leaving any of his genius strategy out, too. I don't read Chinese very well, but I studied his video about a dozen times, stopping and playing, watching for triggers and then adding my own analyses. If he wrote anything super awesome not covered her, let me know please.

    * decrease ranger cooldown time
    * increase ice time period
    * increase meteor power
    * increase thomas freeze period
    * decrease enemies speed
    * decrease enemies power or HP

    Hahaha, sounds too demanding ? I hope not

  9. Decreasing cool down time is one I've been thinking about as well. It will be cool if they have a treasure that allows the missile to damage the tower IF we manage to 'aim' it close enough.

  10. I kind of think that decreasing cooldown time for deploying rangers might be too powerful, but then again they did give us a 45% boost to attack overall in the castle in the sky. It's possible they'll do something looney like this, too.

    Decreasing cooldowns may exponentially increase overall DPS if you think about it. Supposing you had the mineral to support spam-production of units, the average time it takes to clear a stage is maybe 120 seconds. And the cooldowns of rangers vary between 3 and 12 seconds, let's say average of 6 seconds across all rangers for easier math. If they even decreased overall CD by one second, the number of additional rangers you can produce on cooldown is a minimum of 20 per stage. You can produce 5 rangers off cooldown at a time, so the number would be much greater. That can easily overwhelm some boss stages, I would think. I don't know, though. Maybe they can reduce cooldown by percentage or fraction of a second that would make more sense?

    This might be a whole topic of discussion in and of itself, though. It's also possible that they would give us some insanely powerful treasure like the 45% attack boost out of necessity if the upcoming areas are very difficult.

    I think a lot of people jump to the conclusion that KSM and Dancer King Boss are insanely powerful and will make the next area very easy, but I think it's entirely possible that they will design stages that play to all of these rangers' disadvantages (of which there are plenty and I have discussed them in a previous post). I think they did that for Sorcerer Cony really well in Altar and Castle. It forces players who are like player-level 30 with Cony to have to grind it out like the rest of us to succeed, which I'm not at all against! As a business they must give us a reason to buy rubies, but as a game maker they must also give us a reason to continue to play. No one wants to play a game they can steamroll!

  11. Nice post. Whatever treasure they release As you know, it won't be helpful until we reach the third section of the new area. or in other words until we get a chance to unlock it. So I imagine the enemies from stage 118 onwards will be designed with the new treasure in mind. So if reduced cool down is the treasure then the enemies will probably spawn faster as well, or do 'something' that will keep the game reasonably challenging, without being overly discouraging. Kind of like the way the 45% boost is virtually essential for those who want to defeat stage 108 the 'free' way. I hope they keep the game balanced this way. And even if they do get the balance wrong at first (over powered enemies) they will, as always send out an 'update' to resolve the issue.
    Properly I suspect people with KSM, dancer king ect will get through the first within a reasonable amount of time. Also I don't think the free giveaway of Sorcerer Cony is a coincidence considering the timing of her release. (5 june) probably a similar time we get the new stages. She may well be important(for those who don't have the super strong guys) for certain parts of the coming stages. Or in other words she may help prevent people who don't have KSM ect not to spit the dummy and quit like so many did when Alter of flame got released. . I noticed a flurry of negative reviews on the Google play store after that happened, and off course Line quickly sent out an update providing 5star monsters and reducing difficulty of enemies. . We may just keep going around in a circle, but heck! You never know with this company and everything I'm saying could be completely wrong. .

      I also agree, not having Sorcerer Cony might be a huge problem going forward and that's why they're giving it away - similar to the 5 stars obtainable from stages now.

      There was a passing thought of mine: what about the people who can't possibly reach 100 right now and won't clear it by end of month? They won't have Cony. What are they to do? I suspect that'll be chalked up to "well, you should have started or come back to play the game when we sent that blast notification out!" Or, "should have come back during Alter & Castle release weeks ago when we offered new Rangers stickers!" (To which I am still bitterly disappointed about since US region did not get the 2nd set of Rangers stickers. I obtained them via VPN but that's not the point.) Some people who will miss this timeframe will surely clamor when they reach the new areas, complaining that others got Cony, and they didn't. It might be impetus for another Double 5 star chance event or maybe temporary chance to roll on Opera James on Boss Stages.

      All speculation! But I like reading people's ideas! I wish LINE Naver people would read my blog LOL...Pipedream...

    2. Well if they keep up with the trend there will be a 4 star and a 5 star ranger in the new area, and if they do it right these new rangers will help those without Sorcerer Cony.

    Its about marketing and generate revenue

    You cant make people playing this hard game without a good rangers

    Sorc cony when 1st launched made everybody believe altar flame, temple, castle are easy but then its noy as easy as they think

    So does with ksm dancer king etc, looks geat now buy new stage will make them look average (who knows), remember in stage 64 68 72 there are a lizard who can hit our range rangers. The 1st time i saw lizard i know line wouldnt give us great ranger without giving an enemies who can beat our great ranger

    One positive thing is line free rangers can be used to beat every stage. Thats good, make people believe that even without money, you can survive

    Nah, who knows the new treasure also provide us to bring 6 rangers ? But decreasing cooldown is my toplist along with increase ice freeze duration

    I also thought about what would happen to those who don't defeat stage 100 in time. . Now I'm not sure if it will be 'critical' to have SC for some of the new stages, but like I said earlier, I think she will be 'important'. . If it IS critical I don't think Naver will Alienate so many users who fail to complete Stage 100 in time basically telling them to get lost. .I suspect they will make her easier to attain some other way(they want to milk as much as money as possible from as many people as possible lol) Maybe An event that specifically increases the chances of getting her when playing the premium Gacha. . who knows. . more speculation:)

    Now isn't it interesting they just made Macho easy to get via the friendship Gacha?? Considering what we were just talking about!! Probably trying to help people reach and complete stage 100 in time?? He may also be helpful in the new stages maybe even 'farmable'. Like what happened after the Clara event. . well it's been fun speculating, I just hope they keep the finish line ( if there is one) within reach of people who don't have the luck of pulling super strong rangers from the Gacha. . In the meantime, I'm having a lot of fun playing this game. .

    On a side note, it would be awesome if this blog had a forum connected with it I have sooo many things I would like to discuss with other line ranger players! If only I can read and write Chinese they seem to have the forums. .

    1. Yeah I never thought the blog would become as popular as it has. If I had thought it would, maybe I would have started it somewhere with an option for such thing. I don't think many blog services do but maybe somewhere out there it could have been done. I looked into options for other reasons but to change a website url is like Internet suicide lol

      And finally, oh goodness, so thankful they're giving away Macho Moon so he can join the ranks of free Rangers. I dislike Styne and Xan for tanking. I've always preferred Macho Moon and General Brown for the job.

  15. Fero, I'm annoyed I used Well almost 2000 friendship points on the friendship Gacha earlier this morning BEFORE the event started!!! I'll be trying hard tomorrow to get 5 Macho moons so I can Max him out.

    BTW: I have been pulling heaps of 3 Star rangers lately from the friendship Gacha. I got 8 out of 15 turns!!

  16. I just did Friendship Gacha 54 times. If there is one thing I don't lack, it's friendship points Lol. 5400 points, no Macho moon in sight. It doesn't feel like the rate of success that the Clara event was (approx 7-8%). They also didn't knock the fps up to 50pts did they?

  17. 54 Times! It's probably rigged to give him to people who actually need him lool. My brother who BTW is one of the people who gave up on this game when Alter of flame and castle in the sky got released. But was persuaded to come back after the 5 star update. Already pulled a macho moon and probably only played it around 10 times. I'm going to be so annoyed if I don't end up getting 5.

    1. @Tim Your brother is very lucky. 71 times now, only 1 Macho Moon. Definitely does not feel like the same odds as Clara! I'll keep trying and recording what I get and after a few days should have a more accurate statistic. Ugh, but what rotten odds 1 for 71 is LOL

  20. Hi! I've already passed stage 100 and now I can't clear stage 108 though I've learned YouJJay video and your post. My max missile damage, mineral production, limit, at level 71, I used Sol (70), Alice (70), Jessica (60), Witch Cony (60), Clara (60). I have problem even from the very beginning. I upgrade max level till 7 then deploy jessica, maxed it out then deploy jessica, sol, clara. The problem is, I can't kill the first Convini and the others. When I used repair tower to wait a bit for invincibility and then use Tornado, still left Convini and a new one, the 4 tylers didn't die too.
    When hurry up triggered, I spammed Witch Cony, Jessica is still the top priority for deployment. My Witch Cony always die and I can't reach tower because the splash damage of unicycle and ice cream. It is tempting to use ice shot (I know I should save it when another Eva came and I should splashed the tower down)

    1. I had this problem once. I realized I was prioritizing incorrectly over time. You need to always (throughout the entire 3+ minute stage) deploy Jessica and Sol before you deploy any Clara, Alice, or Witch Cony. For I think about half of the fight I almost never have enough minerals or time to deploy Cony at all. Maybe once only? I would only send out Alice if I had 500+ mineral AND Jessica, Sol & Clara were not close to being ready again. One Alice is not worth the DPS loss of one Clara early in the stage. Fixing my priority made Convini a lot easier to kill. My Thomas came almost the same time as in the video, which helped to slow Convini #1 and I could kill him off.

  21. I managed to clear it. My Alice was on 67 and Cony on 57 rest were maxed. It helped meeting them close to my tower after the tornado. The back of death grew very fast. Also helped having a friend with KSM:)

    just passed the stage 108, 1 mins ago.

    I notice the most important part after hurry up is to summon friend with high level KSM
    I found out without this your ball of death will lose eventually.

    KSM basically 1 HIT kill the enemy ball of death so your ball of death can walk bit by bit to the enemy tower.

    Once you nearly can attack the tower use ice power up (do not wait for 2nd eva to come out) or else your KSM friend will die.

    You can add the line ID from this google docs.
    These line IDs are the people who have KSM and friends
    Ask for their help.

  24. I just can't beat this level. I tried with almost the exact team you have, except lucifer cony instead of the other cony. The only way I make any progress is with dwight on my team, but the "hurry up" wave of death just destroys my ball of death like it were nothing.
    I get this huge wave of paper airplanes, unicycles, pink hearts and ice-cream cones that just plow through my team.

  26. As soon as the eva 2 spawn, i used ice shot. But still i cant beat them. Instead she bring the second huge wave with that guy againnin paper plane, i did all the things u said... Am i doing wrong? ㅠㅠ,

    1. Your timing sounds off, ending up differently than the video. In the way I described, Hurry up has already begun way before you get to the tower and get the 2nd Eva.

    2. And anyway unless your team is exactly the same as in the video, the timing won't coincide. Like I said, 108 has many possible formations unless you follow exactly how the video does it and how I described. At the top of the page I also revisited this stage after ranger stats were modified in May. That video is a bit different, but again, my team's level and composition may not apply for you. 108 became a lot, lot easier since end of May already because of stat rebalancing.

    1. You're lucky. Those are all great rangers. I would imagine any combination which you can sustain with your level of minerals is probably feasible. Dancer king and Sol are my obvious picks. You'll just have to keep trying. Your team members are very powerful. If you're not at the appropriate level, then it might just require more time to raise your player level or team level or both.
