Gacha Probabilities - June 30 - July 3

The results are in from the June 30 - July 3 Double 5-star Chance Gacha Event! If you participated, thank you for contributing to the survey (created by 小為) to provide the Line Rangers player community with helpful information.

The Results

Our friends at LINE Rangers 台灣社團 have concluded their survey once the event finished and they were able to collect 329 sets of data from participants, a total of 3449 results (raw data is here) from Gacha. Results were:
  • 3★%: 1008 (29.23%)
  • 4★%: 1001 (29.02%)
  • 5★%: 1440 (41.75%)
This 5 star result is very similar to what the previous results were from their mid-June study which were:
  • 3★%: 30.56%
  • 4★%: 21.55%
  • 5★%: 47.89%

The Analysis

Authors 小為 and 楊濟安 of LINE Rangers 台灣社團 posted this new article about their findings with some more information and analysis on the numbers. Contained within this box is their article interpreted in English.

The results being 3★ 29%, 4★ 29% and 5★ 42%, by lumping the 3★ and 4★ odds together (an average together of 58% of the samples), we can say that the Gacha is only slightly biased towards 3 and 4★.

Now let's move on to some more in-depth useful information.

1. How many times do you need to play to receive one super ranger?
  - The authors defined super ranger as one of the ten 5★ rangers that everyone typically wants to get: KSM, Susu, Cherina, Luis, Hitman, Prince James, Dwight, Dumpy, Dancer King Boss (DKB), Hip Hop Brown. There are a total of 24 5★ rangers on the roster now (Ola is no longer obtainable). Let us assume that the odds of each ranger are the same within their star grade. The chance of you receiving one of these shiny 10 rangers is 10/24 * 41.75% = 17.40% during the event. You'll need 100/17.40=5.75 spins of the Gacha on average before you can expect to receive one of the 10 super desirable rangers.

2. How much do I need to spend on average to get a level 80 Susu?
  - For this question, we're going to have to assume again that the chances to receive each of the 5-star rangers are equal.
Susu is 1 out of 24 of the available 5★ rangers. Multiply 1/24 by our 41.75% to obtain 5★ and you'll get a 1.74% to receive Susu, which will take approximately 57.5 Gacha spins for 1 Susu. You need 5 Susus to max out so that means you actually need about 287.5 spins.
Well, 287.5 spins means you have to play the 5+1 48 times (4800 rubies). I don't know how much they charge all the other regions in the world but in US Dollars on the Android Google Play market during the Ruby Event we can get 494 rubies for roughly $49. In order to get 4800 rubies, we'd have to buy almost 10 packs, which costs $491 USD! It's possible that you get unlucky and have to spend more, but there are those who scored Susu on their first few spins. The average is simply for illustrative purposes.
That said, I sincerely hope that if you were aiming to get Susu, that you did all your Gachas during this past event because if you don't do it during the double chance event, chances are you'll end up spending a great deal more money. But then again, these are averages based on some reality, some assumption, so take it all with a grain of salt.

3. Should I spin with 20 rubies or 100 rubies?
   - This is a popular question and to answer it, we won't talk about the part that luck plays, we will only discuss probabilities.
This question involves the concept of independent events. If we assume that the 6 results from playing 100 rubies are each independent events, this means that one spin of the Gacha has no bearing on the result of the next spin of the Gacha. The authors believe that the 6 results from 100 rubies Gacha are independent events because a lot of people reported getting four 4-stars and one 5-star, or three 5-stars and three 4-stars. This kind of result would not be possible if the game developer had set the 100 rubies Gacha to be dependent events. For instance, if we believe the Gacha is set up to predetermined dependent results, then we should often get results of three 3-stars, two 4-stars and one 5-star, with some variability but not to the extreme of some people getting four or five 4-star rangers in one shot of 100 rubies. So if we assume that both the 100 rubies and the 20 rubies Gacha are independent events then we can use the July results of 41.75% to do some calculations.
For this example, we'll just assume that the chance of you receiving the ranger you want is 1 out of 100 for sake of illustration.
    - If you used 20 rubies x5, the chance of you getting the ranger is 5%.
    - If you used 100 rubies, the chance of  you getting the ranger is 6%.

Based on 41.75% chance to get a 5-star ranger, we have a 17.54% of getting one of the desirable super rangers.
    - If you use 20 rubies five times to spin 5 times you will average only 0.877 desirable rangers (which is to say playing 5 times can possibly yield you zero desirable rangers).
    - If you use 100 rubies once to spin 6 times, you will average 1.05 desirable rangers (which is to say you'll get at least 1 desirable ranger on average in the bundle of 6).

The difference is slight, but it lies in the fact that 100 rubies gives you that one extra spin. Remember the answer we got to question 1 above: you need to spin 5.75 times on average before you can expect to get a desirable ranger. Playing 100 rubies puts you inside the chance to get one since you are spinning 6 times. In this light, playing the 100 rubies game is relatively better. This was deduced based on the information that was collected from the data set. Of course, your personal experience may deviate from this because this is the "average."

4. Should I spin while there is no double chance event?
The short answer is no, of course not. Here's why:
   - Since we have a 41.75% to get a 5★ ranger during the double chance event, then it goes to reason that without the event, our chances are roughly 20.88%.

Our chances to get a desirable super ranger:
   - With double chance event is 17.4%, averaging 5.75 spins to get 1 ranger
   - Without double chance event is 8.7%, averaging 11.5 spins to get 1 ranger

This makes it pretty obvious that during the double chance event your odds of getting something good are much higher. The authors recommend, as I also do, please resist the urge to scratch the itch while there is no double chance event going on! For if you do, you're very likely going to spend some time with this guy.
Go away, Pew. We still do not love you.

Concluding Thoughts

I've stated this before and I think it is important to repeat this: The 41.75% number was an average from a vast pool of results. It is possible that you played and rolled on some very different results than the average. And surely you have seen on the internet instances where people have rolled insanely good results. But this is why this is the average.

The other consideration that often makes players sad after playing Gacha is the fact that your personal set of "desirable" rangers may be a lot smaller than than 17.4%. Maybe all you want are Susu, Hitman and Cherina. In that case, you're rolling on much smaller chance and the chances of you getting something you don't want are much, much higher.

Astute players will notice that supposing 5 star chance remains the same in the future, as long as LINE continues to release more new rangers, the chances of us getting each ranger will be lessened each time. This is made especially clear when you compare the difference in the odds of Susu (1.74%) and last month's Ola Brown (2.39%) which translated to an average difference of $148. This really does put players who have been playing for a long time in a worsening situation. For instance, myself, I have almost all of the rangers on the roster (not all are masters) and the ones I still need are just a tiny percentage. The chances of me getting what I want keeps diminishing. It's a tough situation, but I can understand that as a game maker, they need to keep pushing out newer, better, shinier products for people to want to buy. For me, the breaking point is near, but for many others, there's still plenty of incentive to buy in.

Last but not least, a special thanks to 小為 for pooling all this information for us to share.

  1. Dear Panic,
Again another, spectacular post, filled with precious information and well explained. I will constantly comment in your posts panic, I hope that doesn't bother you. About these statistics I will share my own experience, with a total of 2.964 purchased rubies, I managed to get: Mastered Susu, DKB, KSM, SoCo, Hitman, Prince, Luke, Dwaight, Bernard, Lucifer cony, Abdula, Thunder Brown, Luis, Charismatic Jessica and Gentleman James. Besides the dumpys and hip hop brown (Got them to level 65).
I would say it totally worthed the 400 bucks. And by my own experience Mastered cherrina, will replace Hip hop, as it has more HP and can still attack! Hitman does okay but I fell he's just a little stronger than KSM. Prince & DKB are beast on PvP as you can reach enemy far troops when the enemies tanks die. Luis I think he's weaker than Dwaight or either aren't worth to use. I would say that the best top 5 rangers for PvP specifically are, DKB, Prince, Hitman, Cherrina and of course, Susu. Which is the most OP ranger of the moment, I unfortunately didn't make to get Ola in time, you can tell me about him better than me but im sure he's on the top 7. As he's the only that can defeat a team with the new rangers. In case you're planning to skip susu, I wouldn't do that because you will always have a disadvantage against the ones who have it independent of the rest of your team.

That's all again, thank you for sharing that with our community.
    Best Regards, Kirby.:)

    1. Thanks Fants, I appreciate it. I do want to point out that I translated the article written by 小為 and 楊濟安 of LINE Rangers 台灣社團 group, not all this analysis is my own. (Where the font changes is the content of their article, not translated word for word, but interpreted and adapted, while the data and bulk of the math & logic is theirs). My role is bringing some important information to the English-speaking Rangers community. They have lots of other articles, too, but I have to cherry-pick the topics to work on and discuss because I have limited time to spend on the blog daily, and I read Chinese at like a 5th grade level: very slowly and very laboriously. lol

Congrats on your gachas. Re: Susu, so far in PVP I really haven't any trouble with him. I think he may be really useful in the new stages (whenever it comes), but so far as it being on a 14s cd at best, I'm not too concerned about him in battle mode. Cherina does make a good hybrid tank though; mine unfortunately isn't master, so I'm on the fence about using her at the moment.

    2. Btw one more thing about Susu... His cd in Endless Mode is 42 seconds (50% longer cd in endless mode only). 42 seconds later I'm already in wave 6 lol ..... Goodness!

    3. Good Evening, dearling Panic.

For sure those genious who wrote the article deserve to be recognized just like you! Although, you do the hard job, with every adaptation and interpretations, the translating, every single word! Otherwise I am pretty sure our community wouldn't have acess to it! And that's why our community appreciate it every single minute you spend with us! As I've stated before, I am here to help! If you need a hand, just give me a shout! :)

I am not sure if you had the time to login in the game to see that some rangers have gotten an upgrade in their stats! Such as: Conies, Jessicas, Thunder Brown, and some others! No pressure though, I just wanted to notify you! >:)
Something I would like to suggest you, is that you could post some more specific stuff about your own experience in PvP. Such as which rangers you think are the best matching, the best team setup, different and efficient strategies, I dont know, something focused for the ''Hardcore Gaming'' community. If you know what I mean ;)

Anyways, back to our topic, Susu. You again were smarter than me and realized a point that I did not pay attention, as I always used Susu already mastered, I never had CD issues with him, although a 28/14 seconds cooldown for a solo tank could destroy your whole match, in case the battle lasts too long! I've recently lost my streak to a team with the goddam Ola Brown ): He is still in fact a really strong ranger, due to it's splash/range ability, hard to knock it down! Or maybe I am just supposing that he's THAT strong like you've thought! Haha. Anyways, 5 million HP along with 200k DPS is not bad, that's for sure, so good lucky deciding if it is worth it or not. Lemme know how that goes.

On this week's tournament I managed to reach rank 100~300! Spending around.. 30 rubies with feathers.Though it costed me some hours of sleep and lots of effort! But that's a proof that with a decent team, good strategies and a lot of effort, you can get to a high rank and earn lots of free rubies weekly! You know what they say, the higher the risk, the higher the reward.

And oh well, when it comes to Endless Mode, I am a totally failure! To be honest I dont think it worth my special feather. Rubies > Experience + Gold. If I am not mistaken my highest score was like 4 million. You can tell me more about this one. :)

Anyways, that's all my amusement for you in this wonderful night.
Have fun, and remember, if needed, shout me out!
      Best Regards, Fants.

Until August when they release new rangers that's going to make Susu look like a chump.

    5. @Anonymous - This is my thought as well. We think we might be at a huge disadvantage without the latest and greatest... until next month. It's been this way every month since April.

    6. @Fants & other curious individuals - I like the idea of Susu and I think his character model is really cute. I'd love to have him on my team, but I don't love him enough to spend around $491 to get him in tip top shape, or even spin about 58 times to get one for collecting. Like I said in my post at the end, I'm getting a bit jaded with the constant rollouts of new rangers. I feel like if I don't get them this month, I might get something even better next month, and I don't necessarily need to blow a lot of money now. I *do* admit that this nonchalant feeling is compounded by the fact that there are currently no real challenges that are pushing me to get more and more powerful rangers. If there was a killer new area that was blocking my advancement, I might feel the urge. Right now, there really isn't.

Is PVP a motivation to get the best rangers? Yeah, for the first 2 weeks it was, personally speaking. But you have to admit that the top 1000 ranked players are not only running with the best rangers, they are *also* investing in a tremendous amount of time (and at the top 300, they are spending also a lot of rubies). I have neither that much time nor that much money, so I am happy where I am. I know I naturally fall in the ranks of the 1000-2500 range with a moderate amount of effort, and I collect my 100 rubies at the end of the weekly event with the feeling that I've been properly rewarded for my investment into the game. Not everyone plays that way though, so attitudes towards rangers and the ladder ranking will vary a lot.

I'll never forget how infuriating and frustrating Sorcerer Cony was when she was released. I spent an exorbitant amount of money trying to get her back then and try as I may, I never, ever got her when she was the only overpowered ranger and literally everybody wanted one. I got her much later, after she was no longer the only coveted one. My experience with SoCo has taught me patience and reservation with how I want to play this game. I do occasionally splurge, like in the case of Ola Brown, I just had to have him, for both fanciful and practical reasons.

    7. Fants, if you're ranking at 100-300 honestly, maybe you should tell us what you're doing instead lol. I’m merely hanging out at the 1000s.
I tend to steer away from posts that go into "expert mode" commentary because the experts already know what they are doing and the beginners more than likely will get there once they (1) learn the basics and master them, (2) play the game a lot, and (3) are forced to become clever with the basic strategies by being challenged properly. There is no "secret formula" to being good at this game. It's a very simple game when you break it all down. The problem with a lot of (casual) players these days is that they are joining the game at a point in time when they can stumble upon really good rangers very early on, like if they happen to spin and get a Dumpy or Cherina with their first 20-60 rubies. They use Dumpy and cruise on easy-mode all the way to stage 88 or 96, without ever having been truly challenged and learn the finer techniques of the game. Then they get stuck and have no idea how to really play. It's not the player's fault, it's more the game's fault. Giving players access to the recent new rangers at stage 1 with their first set of gifted rubies is ruining the entire experience, in my opinion! But anyway, that's a whole other can of worms.

    8. Whenever I pick a topic to write about, I consider whether it fits the principles of the blog, which is to provide the English speaking Line Rangers fans a place to get basic information and a place for ideas to convene. Keep in mind, when I first started this site, there were _zero_ resources for Line Rangers. *None*. Google "Line Rangers App Game" and the only relevant hits you got were the Apple Store and Google Play links to download the game. There were no Youtube videos, no forums, no Facebook groups, no sites with vast databases of information like there are today. When I first wrote the list of all rangers, that was the only list available because I could not find it *anywhere* online. Back then, if you wanted to get a long-range splash ranger, you didn't even know who or what you were looking for because there was no place to search for "who are the splash rangers?" So, yep, my Gacha list of rangers is pretty basic and doesn't have all the elaborate stats that players today wish to get (and can get elsewhere), but it served its purpose back in April/May when resources were extremely limited. Now we are all very lucky that other players have posted a lot of information for all to see and share. Long story short, I like to keep things simple and basic for it to be useful to the most number of readers. I also do not post many static numbers on my blog because LINE has this nasty habit of ninja buffing and changing stats. I'm only one person who casually keeps a blog, I don't have the manpower to change all the numbers on various posts every time they alter something. I find writing hopefully interesting posts more worthwhile of my time than keeping a database of numbers. Besides, the databases and tables are available elsewhere on the internet now and those resources do a better job of it than I can! Keeping tables is not my strength, writing hundreds of words about them is.

Ergh, this comment was so long I had to break it up into sections. But hopefully gives readers some insight on the inner workings of the blog.

    9. Good Afternoon, Panic.
I agree with all you've said again, and appreciate the time you took to answer it. Lately I've been having a lot of free time, and that's why I am having lots of time to play and test some stuff in the game. To be in the top 300 the best thing I can tell you or anyone that dont have hundreds to buy feathers is: Play your special feathers with and only with PvP and whenever they are available, use them, dont let it stack up more than 4 times or you will lose time. So what I do is, spend my 5 feathers, 30 minutes each, x5 = 2h and 30 minutes later go back and spend em all.
Of course always trying your best to win, but for that you will need to first build your team and decide your best strategies. I've been having a LOT of confusion with the rangers I have, for example. I love the combo of DKB+Prince, although it isn't the strongest as splasher rangers will just kick your butt. Some battles I use cherrina, she does fine but sometimes I get disappointed with her, as even she having all that HP, she seems to die way too fast! So then I've tried 3 tanks and 2 back row splashers. Dwight,Bernard,Susu, Hitman - SoCo or KSM. It works fine but it's a longer gameplay. Anyways, what I am saying is that there are no unbeatable team, just different strategies and you need to decide which one fits better with what you have. (I would like to have your opinion on this.)
Also I've worked on something called Auto Touch, or bots. They are just so helpful! I dont think this is cheating, is it? Because we are the one that creates the bot's actions so it's basically us playing for the Devs. In 2 days I went from 81 to 87. Incredibly isn't it, for the first time ever I am needing feathers. But we will discuss this another day, when the developers take a position and say if this is legal or illegal.
And you've done such an awesome job with every single topic you've picked, like I've said this was just a suggestion, to sometimes do an article for the hardcore level players, because I am pretty sure that even they need help time to time. And if you barely have time to play the game or to post in here, why dont you plan on some kind of expansion to the blog, where you could invite some experienced players to help you with it!
About the Susu, for sure with time it wont be the best tanker, or neither the next will be, this is an endless cycle of new rangers, where there will always be a stronger and better ranger that you will cash to get it, unfortunatly that is the truth and we will still pay to have the new rangers, otherwise we would all just quit and come back 1 year later stacking up money and you would have the best ones.
My final conclusions? Being on PvP top ranks without spending is possible? Yes it is, although, fame comes with a price. Which is checking your game every 2:30h, lose some sleep and a lot of personal effort as it is tiring. Anyways, I am still finding the best strategy and the best setup, even though the game still need some balancement and yeah.

      Have fun, after all.
      Best regards, Fants!

    10. I have tossed the idea around in my head before, of inviting a co-writer or a collaborator to linerangers.blogspot.com, but I have not seriously considered it. It's mostly when I'm really tired and haven't written in a while or when a bunch of comments exasperate me (ah, the internet...). I haven't decided yet either way. The translations I've been doing of the LINE Rangers 台灣社團 articles are a collaboration with them of sorts, but we do our work independently. It's kind of neat too, it feels like a "meeting of the minds." :)

That said, if anyone has some burning ideas they wanted to write about, I'd be open to hear it, or read samples or check out a website.

    11. One time I planned to come back in 2.5 hours for rainbow feathers and when I loaded the game, I had 45 seconds left until the last feather was ready. It felt like perfection LOL. It also rarely happens. I end up wasting a lot of feathers in a day because I don't time it right or I'm busy and can't get to it. The first week I was fairly religious about it and pretty easily sat around at 500s, but I still didn't lose sleep over it. That's what I mean about a tremendous amount of time -- you have to stay on top of it or you fall like crazy. The first week when I was pretty good about timing feathers, but I'd wake up and still have fallen 1000+ ranks. It hurts! It also doesn't help that I'm ~12 hours apart from most players in the world who live in Asia. My sleep hours = their waking playing hours. The good thing is when the competition ends Monday 6am JST, it's my Sunday afternoon so I can catch up a bit.

    12. Good evening, Panic.
I used to play a game where one of the most clever player of the game had a blog, just like you. But it was overcharging him, so what he did was, created a business contact, which would only be used for that concept, like peoples interested to join your journey to help the community, making posts, sharing ideas! That's my suggestion, a business skype contact, an business email, something, because we cant share our ideas and stuff in the blog comments :)

And in the first 2-4 days in the competition your ranking usually changes a lot! But once you reach under 500th, when we are sleeping, asians have the advantage. (I am also 12h behind them) so that's why I say, when we are awake make the feathers worth it, or you will be gone in the next day.

    13. Fants, I am not oblivious and I don't make decisions here lightly. I do have one which is not my personal email, and it was accessible by the blog via profile page but at the end of the day, people on the internet still abuse it in a surprising number of ways. Especially when they find out the person on the other side of the blog is female. So now I don't and won't share a contact for one-on-one communication unless I am certain it is necessary.

    14. Panic,
Again, this is all an idea, nothing serious haha
And I always knew you were a female due to your videos! (Even though I don't think that's a problem or does not make any, difference, females are usually the smarter ones haha.)
Anyways, anything that fits better for you, again, if needed gimme a shout, I could give you a hand when needed.
      Thank You!

    15. Wow Fants you're so lucky to get so many masters for less than 3000 rubies.

It took me 5000+ rubies just to get mastered Susu though also ended up mastered Prince James. Hitman, Luis and Cherina all at lvl 70.

So you still lucky enough, moderately lucky at least :D

    17. Yeah I guess I was really lucky, my first 500 rubies got me 5 susu one in each gacha. Though after that I didn't get any more susus! Haha, I also managed to max all the new rangers but I didnt max dumpy or hip hop, or cashed in time for Ola...):
@Shuy1n Btw, thanks for the auto touch information the other day! It saved me a lot of time and farming man, really appreciate it. I wish we had more groups or blogs where peoples could discuss more about this game, English communities specifically.

    19. Hello Panic,
I've came to you again with a request, a challenge, which requires your approval. With that said here it is:
Would you give me a chance to write an article about my own experience during this week's tournament and hopefully open the eyes of some peoples of our community? But to do that as I've stated I will need your approval. What this "article" would countain? All the details that I've been through on this week's tournament, about my perceptions and to give players the hope that just like I've done, you can make 300 rubies weekly too!
A long with your approval, there would also need to be a way to me to show you the article before you public it in your blog, but that I will leave to you. I would start writing it today and it would be ready at the tournament reset time.
So yeah that's my offer and probably the first and last of them, or hopefully the first partnership you'd have?

Anyways, it will be up to you decide,
      Have a good day,
      Best regards, Fants.

  2. To be honest Susu doesn't appeal much to me somehow, Panic. Just as you've stated, amidst all the greater HP comes tons of disadvantage like super long CDs, humongous amount of minerals and also, mastered Dwight's attack is slightly (or not so slightly) better than him. Just got dwight up front with lots of dumpys and I'm sure that Susu's not gonna stand a big chance, seeing as the double D's (weird, weird name, I know) atk is much more powerful and their CDs aaaaand the mineral needed to deploy the two of them is cheaper... just a thought though. Anyway I've spent my 300 rubies and got 7 of all the 10 super rangers (none is mastered) with the exception of hiphop, susu and hitman. Consider myself lucky as I've never had the probs with gacha since the first time I started the game (though I've got some problem with toti a few times in the gacha... honestly, I hate toti more than I hate pew) which is oddly because I fell for a guy who loves to play line rangers and then I've got addicted to it myself -_- lol, anyway thank you for the info panic! Very, very useful as always! I love this blog, it has helped me tons since the first time I played this game, until I've got nowhere to go (cleared all the 120 stages, still -not so patiently- waiting for the next update).

Once again thank you for the update panic!

    1. Oh Torino, you are very lucky to have gotten so many top rangers in a relatively few number of gachas. I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. I spend tons, and have a lot of difficulty. Don't know why! Just random.

Your Double Ds (lol) make a valid argument in this. I like Dumpy a lot, and I think he's got a solid place in single player stage mode because he's so agile and cheap and hits like a truck. I was using him a lot in PVP for a while until Cherina came on the scene. Cherina eats Dumpy for breakfast. :( Combined with Dwight, they're still a good combo. I really want to see what the new rangers will feel like in a new challenging area. I am dying to get new stages already. I think many people are too.

      Delete
    2. Yes!!! I agree with your cherina argument. I just love her so, so much. A dozen and a half of level 55 cherinas (coupled with two or three dumpys) are able to clear stage 114/117 so easily. That cherry girl rocks. And her attack animation is cute. I mean that pout... lol. Cherina is a super cool ranger even when she hasn't reached lvl 60. I hope that I can be lucky enough to be able to maxed her out to lvl 80.

I know right? Nowadays, I only logged in to claim the daily bonus, occasionally play the team battle and to battle my crush's team to see just how strong he was. This girl can't wait for the new update :(

  4. Hi Panic,
May I make a suggestion to you? The fonts of your article are inconsistent, and so the sizes of the fonts are. I appreciate your work of translating articles from Chinese to English. Could you make the fonts and the size of fonts consistent for your next articles.
Hope this suggestion won't make you annoyed.

    1. It's done intentionally, Trinh. The serif font section is the content which comes from the original article. The sans serif font (Arial) at the beginning and end is my own commentary. I'm fairly OCD about it because I want to respect the original author(s)' content & message and differentiate it from my own usual prose.

      Delete
    2. I wish I could like... Color block the section or something. But Blogspot is fairly limited in what allows me to do design-wise. I mean I guess I could try and do it up in html but I haven't bothered with it thus far because after translating a bunch of Chinese I get tired and lazy and I just wanna publish lol

      Delete
    3. I love the sans serif font (Arial) at all your articles. Just because the size of the fonts in the middle paragraphs are too small. If you want to keep the content from the original article, could you resize the fonts bigger, it would be easy for us to read. Thank Panic so much.

      Delete
    4. Blogspot is pretty weird in that the font sizes are "small", "medium", or "large" and "medium" is that small, then "large" is really huge, like header size lol. Anyway I played around with it and I think I got the color block down. And I changed the serif font to some other kind of serif font. It's bigger and rounder. Better?

      Delete
    5. I am thankful for your work on changing the sizes & fonts of your articles. Now, it is very easy to read and it is more beautiful. Wish you all the best, Panic! :-)

    1) First the reset for daily check in has been changed to Thursday...

The clarification for the weekly log in event is nice, but I don't see how changing it to Thursdays makes any difference.
And I totally don't understand the "new" ruby bonus of 30%. I don't see it yet on the ruby shop window. I just see the normal bonuses for buying in bulk.

  6. Hey Panic, I don't know if I'm just unlucky or what, but I think Premium is better than Premium 5+1 so far I played Line Rangers. Because when I try Premium 5+1, I've got only one 5* and another five are 4* (I always spend my Ruby when double chance event). And when I tried Premium (not Premium 5+1), I got (always) 5* :(

    1. I tend to believe it's random, just your luck. I've played plenty of 5+1, especially when I was looking for SoCo, and she never came. Then one day I stored up enough free rubies is for a 20 and boom, out she came. But since then I've gotten SoCo again like 8 times from 5+1 spins. *shrug* strange random results.

  8. I hope they will eventually separate the rangers into different gacha sets to keep the chance somewhat reasonable. Opening a gacha reminds me of ripping a pack of Magic the Gathering trading card game. There are only a couple of chase-after rares that you may find in a given expansion... the rest are pretty much trash. A booster pack of Magic the Gathering, however, does not contain every cards in its existence.

Given that the premium gacha already shows the rangers that people may wish to acquire in its cover design... this should be easy. They may add fillers like Masked Moon, Alice, etc. to keep the chase-after rangers from becoming too easy to get. Still... The percentage of getting a super ranger should be somewhat constant.

  9. Panic, is the gacha coupon has the same probability as the normal gacha rolls?
I mean, is it better to use the coupon on the double chance event or it has a fixed probability?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I can't say that I know for sure but I would assume Premium Gacha is same odds no matter what currency you use. Therefore double chance event is still the better way to go.

    1. No, it is not referring to someone that got master rangers in short time.
They most likely bought a lot of rubies with real money because there is no cheat for rubies. Probably they spent thousand dollars to get mastered susu.

The one that line refer about abnormal gameplay is the mod in android. You can summon ranger without mineral cost and no delay, as well as rocket no delay. Those are the abnormal gameplay, not master rangers

  13. Hi Panic and all,
I was thinking out loud, is it better to farm stage 104 or stage 117?
Then the other question came to me, if I am farming at 104-( without numbers to back up ) I still stand a chance to get either a cony or xan. Selling a 5★ max combined ranger gives about $25960 coins*(not deducting cost of combining) , won't it be better to farm stage 108 rather then 117 that gives 3★ rangers? Understand there is a difference in experience gain in both stages, Question is do you think what you get from stage 108 is enough to compensate from what you get from 117?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I didn't do the math, surely you guys can estimate it yourself to see. It's preference otherwise. I like 117 more because I can finish it in 18 to 20 seconds and I don't usually have a lot of time to play so it works for me. Some people up top seem to think 104 yields more gold, though.

      Delete
    2. I tried zerging with like splash guys without spending on minerals. Takes more than 20 seconds even with susu. Instead I just use non maxed toons with at least 1 decent toon to carry the team. I hope the game has better use of non top tiered toons otherwise people will just use their best characters all the time. Kind of like MPQ where roster diversity wasnt necessary ...

I spent a helluva lot more money on this gsme tho ... sigh

  14. I wonder how many of those entries are fake. I mean it's really not that hard to put some random numbers.

    2. You're a fucking idiot, Mr. Anonymous. Wait no, you're probably right. I like to brag how many Danes I get too! Even if I really didn't... :(

      Delete
    3. Don't get so worked up. I'm just saying that I entered a few fake entries and it had no problem getting through. This type of data requires everyone to be honest and accurate. And there is room for mistakes, including those who entered over a hundred rangers. You also assumed that the rate of getting each 5 star ranger is the same while they might be different.
Accurate data requires everyone taking the test to be unbiased and truthful. If someone *accidentally* enters the wrong number or doesn't fully remember their results then the test becomes invalid.

      Delete
    4. No margin of errors either which would make this survey much less trustworthy.

      Delete
    5. I already stated that there were flat out assumptions made where we could not otherwise draw conclusions, so yeah, of course there are reservations to be had when reading this. And the data sampling was all obviously volunteered information with no validation and no verification and no way to measure a margin of error. The margin could be 1%, it could be 100% made up by Internet trolls, who knows? But luckily we're not curing cancer with this info. The post and the original article were meant to provide the players with a rough estimate of what their chances are when they throw down their hard earned rubies where they otherwise would have nothing to go on whatsoever. Before this survey was done, people used to ask this question all the time and the best guess was whatever number someone felt like saying based on gut feeling. Is that any better?

Would players rather know that the odds are 40% or thereabouts, or go in completely blind? That's all we're trying accomplish here. It's not rocket science, it's not precise, but I thought that was fairly obvious.

      Delete
    6. Not much difference going in blind compared to "The margin could be 1%, it could be 100%".
You're doing math like the numbers are absolute, and that's my problem with it. The author never intended it to be used like that, and it's worse when you assume the rates of each ranger within the same category are the same. That gives people the wrong impression of the percentages and might sway people to waste money, or not buy anything at all.

      Delete
    7. Then I highly recommend that you stop reading because pretty much everything on here is an absolute opinion of mine.

      Delete
    10. Well it's all down to your luck eventually. If you're lucky you'll get what you want, if you're not, you won't get any great rangers. Simple. I love Panic's article to know the chances for most people but personally I've always managed to get some really great rangers, with minimum spin so I don't really care if the data's right or not. I don't mean to brag but that's the truth, Anon, it's not about the math, it's about your luck.

  23. I find it amusing how people are complaining about "money teams" or complaining about people who pay to get the latest and greatest rangers. In case you haven't realized, Line Rangers (and most other mobile apps) are all about enticing users to spend money. The Battle Mode simply made this fact crystal clear. No surprises here.

If you want an equal playing field game that isn't "let's see who's got the most cash" based, go play Starcraft or Street Fighter. I personally have given up on Battle Mode and instead challenge myself with Endless Mode. I collect my weekly 20 rubies from Battle and continue to pay for rubies as I love Cony and Brown and collecting Rangers.

    1. Frankly, I find it amusing too. This game is the furthest thing from balanced and fair for all. It was never intended to be, and you're right, team battle couldn't have made it any clearer. Balanced game play was never on the agenda. The only redeeming factor is a least it is possible to beat all single player stages with free rangers, albeit with a lot more time and effort.

    3. Ola Brown might remain limited as he was tied to the World Cup, but I don't believe for a minute that Susu won't be available again. He's powerful enough to survive another round of ranger upgrades, and I suspect he's been very effective in coaxing people to buy more rubies.

    4. Hi Panic and everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster. Blog is so helpful and I find myself returning on a daily basis (I think I'm addicted to this game :\ )

Ola Brown is one serious guy to contend with on PvP. Whenever he rocks up, I know I have to get on to smashing it out quickly. If I let it drag out then theres too many of him then I know I'll end up losing.

I hope you are right Sophie in that Susu returns later. I don't really want to spend any more money to obtain him - I was quite fortunate that I got 2 of him during the promotional event (despite not really wanting him) but I had other Mastered rangers that would become apart of my dream team.

Now time has passed and I sort of feel like I want to get Susu... haha

      Damn you Line Rangers!

    5. Hi there,
on some level I feel like the free shu giveaway diminishes the value of Ola, he's like a poor man's Ola. I don't doubt that shu many be extended another week or two in the future. Ola is probably done though. I'm sure they won't stop, though. More "limited edition" rangers to entice us to buy.

I haven't had much to write lately, been super busy and a couple of the things I've been researching didn't pan out the way I expected. We'll see though. More on the way...
