They are here! New Rangers of the summertime! If you have not checked out the new Edward video, go do it now! He's totally psycho behind the wheel, and Leonard is tapping into that madman personality for Sally's rescue! I like how Leonard is like Lucius Fox from Batman Begins as they step into the secret lair to show him his new acorn-mobile...
Compare Rider Edward to Susu and honestly it's close in damage. Edward is a bit less health, but he will survive most of anything that will come his way. The advantage with Edward is that he hits everything in the path of his acorn-mobile, which is tremendous range, and his resting position is quite out of melee range of the enemy. He's a good ranger, but you really need to give Edward sufficient support from other teammates to allow him to shine. Edward is likely to be a monster in Team Battle for his speed, range, and sheer road-ripping murderous rage.

Summer Brown is so lazy... just lounging on the beach working on his beautiful tan. Very handsome, and very butch, but why so slow, Brown? Pick up the speed a little for Sally, ok?
Summer Brown is on a 12 second cooldown (standard, not master). Once mastered, he has 1.5 million HP which is huge for a 4 star ranger, even if he hits like a wet noodle. As a pure tank, he's leaps and bounds ahead of fellow 4-star health ranger Macho Moon, even more HP and HPM (health per mineral) than 5-star Thunder Brown. Really not bad if you are looking to put a cheap wall between you and the enemy.

Chichi is the new better, faster Dwight! She's so expensive but she's worth every penny. Pretty quick and has a TON of HP. Chichi is one of the best of the new set of rangers. More health than any other ranger at the moment.

Elle is one of only two ranged splash units in the 3-star grade (ok, one of three if you count Pew, hee hee) and actually for the 3-star quality, she does really decent damage at master level. The most impressive thing about Elle is her range. It is possible to even use her in Maze of Illusion where range is crucial to escape from enemy splash damage. She's more damage per mineral than Shu, believe it or not, and therefore more cost efficient to use. She is on a 8 second standard (not master) cooldown.

Mully looks like he has some good uses. He's pretty meaty and does really decent damage, with good speed. I like him a lot in PvP because of the good balance of stats and fairly cheap cost (by today's standards anyway). The interesting thing about Mully and his closest competitor Dumpy is that they're kind of polar opposites of each other while still being very attractive choices for different reasons. Dumpy's dmg/min is double Mully's. Mully's HP/min is double that of Dumpy. They both move very fast (though in reality, Dumpy's still faster). In a game like Team Battle however, HP will get you much more actual bang for buck. There are stages in single player mode that allow for low health cannons like Dumpy to shine, but more often than not, survival trumps higher damage.
Side note... Mully's description makes me wonder if Sally wants his help or not...

ReplyDeleteI rolled 800 rubies (300-ish were earned from the last month) and it's been pretty disappointing but honestly, I'm happy I got one of each so far, except Chichi. She's the only one I don't have even 1 of yet.
ReplyDeleteI really don't feel it's mandatory to get the new rangers, nor master them, unless you are shooting for top 500 Team battle ladder. The current area can be done with much tamer rangers. The latest and greatest are great, but I don't feel the NEED to get them. I like to collect one of each and call it a day now. lol

ReplyDeleteI dropped $200 on this game this morning, and I got a pretty good run. Was able to get mastered Edward as well as Summer Brown and also that other new 3 star ranger. I also got 1 Chi Chi and 2 Mully amongst other 5 star rangers that I was after.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm pretty happy with the haul this time, last time I don't think it was quite double gacha chances.
In addition though, now that I have Mastered Edward, I don't feel the need to buy much more rubies (probably similar to yourself Panic). In addition, it is becoming quite expensive and a little bit ridiculous (don't exactly have heaps fo extra discretionary money to throw at this game).
But I do hope they start thinking about releasing some more new stages and making it quite a bit more difficult especially for those who do have alot of mastered rangers.
Btw, mastered Edward rocks. I don't mind now that I didn't get a mastered Susu haha
Even more difficult ? Not all of us have the luxury to spend money on this game. People who cant afford this will have a really hard time to pass on and eventually, imo, stop playing. I think the difficulty level with the last new area is hard enough.

DeleteIn prior posts on this blog, there have been people commenting on the extreme difficulty or absurdity of it, only to have passed the stage the next day. I would hope that an update would keep us a little more preoccupied than what it has already. So I suppose either releasing more stages or increasing the difficulty are the only options.
At the end of the day, I think when I read posts about those who "don't have the luxury to spend money on this game" and complain about the difficulty - its a free game for you. What else can you expect from that?
My friend who started playing 2 weeks ago, has now become Level 75 on stage 123 or so and had a Susu and a Dumpy without paying for any rubies. He then tried to spin gacha twice and because he didn't receive a Cherina or any of the new rangers so he got annoyed and has now decided to stop playing. It kind of irked me because I felt like he didn't take the time to think about the strategy of the team, the composition and battle tactics. With the release of these new rangers it is only making the stages much easier to defeat.
In fairness to the Anonymous above you, we wouldn't want the game's difficulty to be balanced to cater to those who can afford to spend $200 on this game. To put it a little cheekily, that's a lot of cash for a picture of Edward bouncing in a car.
DeleteWhile free players will always have it harder and must accept that, there are also those who pay small - in microtransactions. Remember, around $10 a month is an MMO subscription. That's where content should be balanced for.
short version: if you spend nothing on LINE Rangers, you should expect to find it hard. If you spend $200 on LINE Rangers, you should expect to find the game easy. If you spend your leftover parking change on it, it should be just right.

Edward, and chichi and others 3 stars gained by spending 100 rubies. My rank on battle mode from nobody jumps to 5001+, and clears all stages. Thx

DeleteThey created a game that is challenging but possible to win without spending a dime. They created a game where if you are willing to spend, you get the luxury to play with shinier rangers. It's not a perfect system but I don't think agree with what anonymous above is saying either.
The problem with the team rank rewards is the only players that 'win' anything are ones that don't need it. It just continues to widen the gap every week.

I'm saying the margin for the rewards in battle system is too huge. 1000 rubies is hilarious, why should these people get that many rubies when they don't even need it as much as those who don't spend cash. Those like me who don't spend cash can never think about getting this huge reward. The fact that they are really selfish with rubies goes to show how greedy the developers are. If they really think for the majority of players then rubies should also be given as random stage rewards and endless mode, and all the limited edition rangers should NOT be so overpowered. And do not think that adding more rangers is good, the chances of mastering one will get harder and harder as the pool of ranger gets bigger. It's even worse that all the good limited edition rangers (ola,susu and now edward) can ONLY be won through gacha and no other means. Too bad the game is really fun and cute but seems like the developers only have MONEY in mind, greedy!

While people who do not spend cash, should just be contented with the free stuff. DeleteI think the developers are already generous, to tweak the levels and such so that people with free rangers can actually pass it and be on some form of competitive level as those who actually spend money for premium rangers.
every week, you are getting 35 rubies from daily login and 20 more per week if you bother to at least battle in the pvp arena. This works out to about 220 rubies FREE per month, which is a lot.
top players get the reward to defray part of their cost (do you think they dont spend rubies to reach the rank? my guess is, they spend more than 1000 rubies to achieve those points).
You must be one of those self entitled fools who is P2W and spoiling the game by throwing money to the game to feel good, feeling sour about my post? When did I say I want rubies to be "spoonfed", link me to the statement that stats that. Rubies as random reward in stages is not "spoonfed", you play the game, you get the reward. 220 rubies per month is not a lot, considering the fact that the limited edition rangers are only available in only 3 days after release and gacha gives more useless 3/4 stars than useful 5 stars. I've never gotten any ola, susu or edward with my free rubies, and so did many of my friends who do not spend cash. Many of them have deleted the game because it is too unfair.

DeleteIf you play every 2.5 hours around the clock and win every match with free feathers alone for 7 days straight, you more or less hang out in the 2000-5000 tier. Pocket the 80 (or 100 if they correctly buff the reward) you earned doing nothing but play the game for free and call it a good week. Add that to 35 for daily login. In 2 weeks you have 230 rubies to toss at the double chance event and hope for the best. What more can you expect?
I still don't see the point of your ranting, Anonymous. If you strongly feel the game is unfair and that the developers created some monstrously loaded game against the favor of its players, why continue to play it at all? It is a waste of time to play a game you do not enjoy.
DeleteThe problem is the game is catering almost entirely to the crazy players that spend hundreds of dollars a month. It does nothing for the ones that would spend $5-20. Gacha odds are so bad, for that little amount of money you might as well just stick with the rubies you get for free. That means you'll likely never master a single premium ranger, will always get destoyed by ever more powerful mastered premium rangers in team battle, and will almost always be missing a key ranger necessary for beating the newest area.
DeleteIf you don't have Edward, you are totally screwed in team battle. His aoe range wipes out everything but your extreme long range. So unless you have all the latest mastered with millions of HP, just forget about it.
It's so sad that the game is a cash cow now, the players dumping real cash are also partly to blame. Money brings out the greediness in everyone. I hope they will stop with all these nonsense and let us get more rubies the legitimate way which is to play the game.

I've got an edward on my first (and last, I've only spent 100) 5+1 gacha, along with Dwight, SoCo, Xan, LuciCo and a clara. I NEVER throw a single dime to get those rubies. And I can actually master some of the premium ranger (not the "very" new ones but those like dumpy, dwight or prince) given my luck in gacha without throwing a single dime. Seriously, do not blame the developer, you just gotta have to do it very, very slowly. I cannot master the new rangers immediately, but at least I've got some premium rangers mastered although it may took awhile.

I'm not sure what the motivation is for complaining in a blog post other than the need to vent because -- and I can't emphasize this enough -- this is a personal blog with no affiliation whatsoever to LINE Rangers, LINE Corp, or any of its subsidiary companies. So while I don't mind people venting and tossing comments back and forth, be aware that it likely is just internet banter and you likely won't be "achieving" anything by doing so.
First, there are too many anonymous, it becomes a bit hard to know who is who. Anyway.. I'll disagree with many people there. This game is one of the best designed F2P I have ever tried. It's incredible how many ways you have to get Rubies, and it will be even better after the PvP ranking update.
ReplyDeletePeople who complain, please remember "Time is money". People who pay just save time. It can be 2hours or few months. But YES you can have Premium MRanger without spending anything. But you need to be patient a bit. By saving Rubies you can make a good deal on a 2x Gacha event..
Anyway, this is far from a P2W, and I say that without having any OP MRangers. I even got a really bad Gacha this time(Hitman, Mully), with my 200 free rubies.
Yeah I agree with too many anonymous and also the part where Line Ranger is one of the best f2p game that is designed.

DeleteThank you! I've determined that my main deficit in my quest to clear 128 is the ability to stall long enough for all those darned dice to spawn. My tower can't take much of beating right now, and that's going to be a source of valuable seconds, so I'm going to have to grind away for a few more days to get that to where it needs to be. I also discovered that I'm missing two of the tower HP treasures, so hopefully that will help as well.

DeleteMy level 40 tower ( 3.4 Million HP) can withstand enemy's attack until I got Thomas on the battle field but you need to keep sending your rangers to slow down the enemy move rate and to be able to call for Thomas on time before your tower is destroyed. In my personal experience, Thunder brown + Hip Hop brown make a pretty good combination to get rid of Croocy. You can probably deploy 1 thunder brown for every 3 hip hop brown and use the spare cash to deploy the long range splasher. Hope this helps !
DeleteDevs really need to eliminate or extremely limit the chances of getting a ranger from gatcha that you already have mastered. My recent gatcha did nothing but give me rangers I already have mastered. Don't get me wrong, I was kind of flattered to get Dwight and KSM again but I have them at 80 already. It just seemed pointless. I'm kind of done with this game for a while. The mad grab for money seems too obvious and the recent debacle with the insane difficult of the new area when it was first released frustrated me a lot. ReplyDeleteIn regards to eliminating or limiting the gacha based on your current set of rangers - I agree and disagree with this. The whole premise of Gacha is random/luck lottery. By continuing to decrease the remaining possible rangers according to those you have already accumulated would be pointless - it would mean that everybody who pays $x could have all the same rangers. With this current system, it means that potentially sometimes you can get a mastered ranger for cheaper or for more.
I really do wonder what sort of makeup are people playing and paying Line Rangers. I don't think you could spend $10 on this game a month and be satisfied. $10 gets you basically nothing.
They keep adding new rangers though, so removing the chance at getting rangers you've already mastered wouldn't improve the odds excessively, only help keep them constant.

DeleteI paid and bought some rubies myself during the double chance event. Knowing the odds and seeing the math shown in Panic's blog lessens the anxiety and anticipation. There is always the possibility of getting undesirable rangers, rangers I already have, or the dreaded 3star rangers with the premium roll. I can accept this, even as I paid for rubies I felt could be priced more reasonably, I still accepted and spun the gacha.
ReplyDeleteI have had amazing results with the gacha roll everytime. It's so good my friend doubted the results.
With my push to clear the new zone, I did manage to bulldoze past stages 128 to 132, ultimately clearing that final stage as well. But the thing was, it was with farmable rangers and the older stable of rangers. So yes, paying to obtain the new rangers was what I wanted. And yes, clearing the final stages happened with the rangers that were needed instead.
Would I pay again? Likely yes. Do I save and try to earn more free rubies? Most certainly yes as well. It's a great game! Let's get back to enjoying it and discuss the strategies and what not.
Bulletproofx, thank you for your positive comment. Your words are the voice of a person who has a good understanding of the game we have at hand and speaks with reasonably set expectations for enjoyment. What a refreshing POV.
