Difficult Stages - Stage 71

Upon arriving to the Ancient Museum zone, I think I only had a bit of trouble briefly at 64 and 68 before I hit a wall at 71. Stage 71 is difficult because it's a continuous stream of enemies big and small and your melee attackers and balance rangers are completely useless. The purple lizard in the back of the enemy pack will slaughter anything and everything at the front of your team. Health rangers can take a few hits but even then, they don't hold for very long. As more and more lizards pile up back there, the faster your front line will melt away.

I had a lot of trouble with this stage because I had no splash rangers worth using at the time. If you have Sol, Pew, Vlad or any Jessicas, seriously, save your minerals and feathers. They won't survive long enough to make a dent on the enemies here. If you are reading this on the day of writing, April 13, 2014, drop everything and go try your GACHA chances for a Clara. Clara, Sorcerer Cony and Opera James completely trivialize this stage with splash damage. If you don't have any ranged splash attackers, then sorry, you'll have to do it the long, difficult way like I did.

My Team

  • Level 55 Ellin (farmed from stages 52, 56 and 60)
  • Level 40 Sindy (farmed from stages 64, 68)
  • Level 40 Frog Brown
  • 2 lowbies - Scott, Bella
I opened the stage with Scott and Bella and used them to stall for time while I upgraded minerals to max. Remember to properly deploy the lowbies so that they walk with some equal space between them. This will help slow down the green guy and also prevent both your lowbies from being smacked by the lizard tongue attack at the same time. The green guy will only stop walking if he has something to attack, so time your lowbies!
Bella, Scott and Frog Brown stalling the enemy's march while I level minerals
Once at max minerals, I entered Brown into the mix with the lowbies and continually deploy them. Deploy Ellin and Sindy whenever you have the minerals to do so, but never prioritize their deployment above Brown and the lowbies. Brown and lowbies must be sent out as soon as their cooldown is done. The job of Brown, Scott and Bella here is to hold the front line and not to allow it to slip towards your tower. You need to protect Sindy and Ellin from being hit by the lizard enemy. You can probably afford to throw one missile at the green guys, but save the second missile.

After a certain point, you will inevitably get cornered. Try to time it so that the lizard has not yet reached Sindy and Ellin, but is right about to reach them. Then toss a tornado at them. Hopefully you haven't used your missile yet because if you throw it right when every enemy is at the foot of their tower, all the lizards will die. Send out as many rangers (keep the priority of lowbies> Brown> Ellin> Sindy) as possible. Launch your missiles as they become ready. Without the annoying lizards, you should very well be pushing at the enemy tower soon. When the yak mini-boss pops out, if you feel your team is running thin and can't handle him, use your ice shot and meteor. If you're strong enough to hold your front line without items, just keep pushing with more Sindys and Ellins. If you have a Friend to deploy, use them now. You want to kill the tower soon after the yak mini-boss dies.
Trying to hold the front while the clump of ranged attackers take down the enemy herd
If you hit Hurry Up, the stage becomes much harder. Another yak or two will pop out and another stream of lizards, and green guys will come. If you have any offensive items left, now is the time to use them.

If you still have trouble with Stage 71, make sure your Treasures are at 100%. This stage is terrible for single target rangers. It's terrible for melee range rangers. It's a tough one. Grinding some more levels might be necessary. Upgrading mineral production, mineral max, and missile power may also help. This was the stage that really made me rally all my resources and get all my ducks in a row.

If you have ranged splash attackers, this stage likely didn't make you think twice about it and you're wondering why this post exists. :)

Good luck!

    1. You can do it with your team, and it's a very good team for it. How do you start your stage? At what point do you get to max level 8 mineral?
I cleared it for the first time with Ellin 60, Sindy 55, Opera James 40, Frog Brown 40 and Brownie. Opera James at 40 is more powerful than your Clara at 45, but your team is still very viable, especially if you use items.

If you start the level with Scott and Brown, then level minerals to lv 3, the first wave of penguins should push your group pretty close to the tower. The next thing you should put out is either Sindy or Ellin. The 4th unit to put out is definitely Clara. Drop a missile as soon as it is ready. Continue to deploy Scott and Frog Brown so that you always have 1 in the front. Prioritize Clara over Sindy and Ellin. As soon as the penguins finish coming and you kill them all off, level minerals to max. Your rangers should be crossing the middle and almost to the enemy tower.

When the next set of enemies come out, prioritize Frog Brown and Scott as your top deployment, and then Clara, then Sindy. Deploy Ellin only if you have enough minerals and everything else is on cooldown.

Once you kill 1 of the white multi-eye enemies, start saving your Thomas (if he has popped up). When you have killed 2 multi-eye enemies, save your missile. Once you have killed all of them, hopefully you have a healthy clump of ranged attackers in the back and a lot of Browns in the front or on their way there.

As soon as all of the white enemies and walrus have popped out, ice shot them and launch your missile. Drop meteor also if you want to be safe. Deploy your Friend's rangers. You should be able to get them to about half. Before the enemies defrost, send Thomas out. This should buy you enough time to kill them or come very close. If all your Browns are dead, tornado them back and finish them off.

Alternatively, after the 2nd wave, wait for all the enemies to pop out, tornado them back to the foot of the tower and ice shot them before they move away. Clara should be able to splash damage the tower down before the walrus dies.

I'll put something up about 81 in a little while with pics.

    2. Thank you so much

I also have brown thunder level 50 with 215 k hp and moon fighter lvl 34

Now i am at level 58 and just upgrade my max and prod rate

Cant we play like youtube tutorial ? Where we let penguins attack our tower ? Tornado them back and finish them off then we will only face the slow ryoko ? That would save so many time to deploy ranged rangers ?

    3. Oh i often start my stage with 1 styne and 1 scott then followed by sindy and clara

Sometimes i am getting stress with this level. When i killed penguins too fast i will attract the poppies but if i too slow kill that penguins then i will lose haha

--> Yes, you definitely can. There are pros and cons of that. I discuss that in the new post, under Panic Method.

    6. There are different ways to go about it. I talk about three ways in the Stage 81 post. Check it out :)

  2. Keep training your Sindy until 60 and Styne at least above 50 - if you have had synthesis them during the +80% Stats Event.
    *Preferably Styne level 55*

Select Friend/Sidekick which you know has Sorceror Cony and/or Lucifer Cony with other ranged rangers.

    I have cleared the stage with;
Ellin(60), Sindy(60), Styne (52), Clara (47) and Scott* - dont use Bella, because it attacks abit range, this stage you need a lowbie that confront the enemies to 'block' or avoid monster from moving forward. reason: to avoid the 7-balls monster hit your ranged rangers.

Know at least there will be two (2) Friend's Rescue Rangers to aid in the game, then try stage 81 again, to withstand the first wave - ii had Ellin & Lucifer Cony - lucky!

    Step One
Upgrade Mineral Production until Lv.3. While penguin is near your tower, firstly, deploy Styne followed by Friends/Sidekick -- NINJAA !!! -- *cough* and then Sindy...then lowbies-Styne-Ellin-lowbie-Clara-Styne---

Maximum number of Styne is 3 for receiving damage. then concentrate deploying more ranged rangers, and deploy Styne again when one is dead to maintain three(3) infront (with your decoy Scott).

Level up your Max. Mineral Limit when necessary - slowly.

    Step Two: Second Wave
This time rescuers will come to aid your team. NINJA! Point here is, concentrating on deploying lowbie and Styne at enough minerals, and ONLY add more ranged rangers when you have extra/more minerals. Objective here is to maintain strong standpoint to avoid incoming 7-eyed monsters (Poppi) touching your ranged rangers.

    Third Wave
Only use Tornado when you have only one Styne left, while more Styne is in the middle to his way.
Use Ice Shot followed by Meteor, when the 7-eyed monster (Poppi) and walrus (Ryoko) have killed your tanker(s).

This final wave...again, concentrating only on Styne & Scott. Only deploy extra more Clara & Sindy when you have extra or more minerals when Styne & Scott is on cooldown. Try less prioritize deploying Ellin. Sindy's 'very fast' attack will helps to knock-back the enemy more often.

  3. Hello panic button, can u make a YouTube video to show how to clear lvl71? It's so tough to hold the lizards and greenies away as what u mentioned.

    Many thanks in advance ^^

    1. Hi Esther,
Sorry for late reply. Hope you have already passed 71?
Anyway, this video is not mine but this person has same composition and pretty much is exactly as described here. He does a great job of timing the lowbies and Brown. Items are very well timed as well.

  4. I got my doubts about Stine, it's better than frog? And what about sindy and ellin? I'm stuck in lvl 75 my team is:

    Stine 48
    Ellin 49
    Sandy 34

I got Alice at 46 but I stop use because her range suck.

    Thanks.

  5. Depends on how many you get. Styne is more readily available so if you get him to max at 60, he will be much more beefy compared to 40 frog brown, of course. Level for level, I like Frog brown more because his speed of movement is faster and I prefer my tank Rangers to get to the front as soon as possible. Brown also has a shorter cool down so you can get more Browns out.
In your situation, I'd probably bring both because 75 starting enemies come so fast. Deploy brown, then styne to hold the front while Ellin and sindy attack. Try and get sindy up higher, she's really really good.
